Let’s just say I am not the best cook. I’ve tried many many times, however, it’s not ever going to be my strong suit. So much so that one time when I was in the kitchen making something as simple as scrambled eggs, my mom told me to leave. Her exact words were, “Honey what are you doing in the kitchen you’re going to burn the house down.” Needless to say, I haven’t improved since then. This is ironic because my younger sister is such a good cook. She tries to teach me but I’ve honestly given up. However, I pride myself on my ability to make one thing. One. Homemade cinnamon rolls. Delicious right? The only reason I’m capable of this is because of my grandma. She had an old recipe and has been making them with me since I was five years old. She was patient enough with me to teach me how to make something so appetizing. Because this is the only thing I can successfully bake, I used to make them all the time on the weekends. I even have the recipe memorized to this day. However, no matter how many times I make them, my grandma’s are always the best. When I was younger, my sisters and I would sleep at her house and I would beg and beg to have them for breakfast. My sisters got so tired of them but I never did. Over winter break, I definitely made them a few times. How could I not?
